Dia de los muertos - day of the dead is a Mexican holiday which focuses on the gathering of family and friends to remember those family members and friends who have died. The celebration takes place annually on the 1st of November and celebrated with traditions honoring the dead using sugar skulls, marigolds and, foods and beverages.
Yesterday I was lucky enough to attend a dia de los muertos party hosted by Esplón Tequila, a drink the Mexican's a renown for, down at Mrs Sippy in Double Bay. There were plenty of tequila based drinks flowing and many fabulous costumes floating around, not to mention a face painting station! Oh and did I mention there was a mariachi band and tarot card reader!
A huge thank you to Trish Nicol PR for inviting me on this wonderful evening. When I first got the invite I felt like I was in the TV show Community (one of my favourite) - it reminded me of the episode where they have a dia de los muertos party :)
